Job Summary	The Department of Cognitive Science in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position beginning Fall 2026. This position is a one-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and institutional needs. We seek candidates to teach and help develop core undergraduate courses in cognitive science, with an emphasis on introductory-level instruction. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering foundational coursework that serves students across the Institute. While the primary teaching responsibility is in introductory cognitive science, the ability to contribute to the department’s introductory linguistics offerings—particularly as they intersect with Cognitive Science—is welcomed but not required. We encourage applicants whose academic background and teaching experience reflect a strong grounding in psychology, philosophy, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, or cognitive systems. Candidates must hold a terminal degree or foreign degree equivalent by the time of appointment and have demonstrated experience teaching at the college level. Evidence of effective teaching, and the ability to demonstrate, through accomplishment, promise of academic, scholarly and/or research achievement in their specialty is required. The Department of Cognitive Science at RPI is known for its teaching and research in areas including computational cognitive modeling, artificial intelligence, human and machine reasoning, computational linguistics, perception and action, cognitive robotics, and synthetic characters.

Description

As a Residential Assistant Supervisor, you will supervise staff who provide daily therapeutic care and programming according to agency policy and governing body standards and requirements. You will report to the Residential Supervisor and you will work onsite.

Responsibilities:

Supervise program activity which will lead to the attainment of goals described within treatment plans
Supervise and evaluate the work of residential staff assigned to residential programs.
Work shifts on the unit as assigned, which could include variable shifts (several days and several evenings each week)
Work as one of the staff within the staff-to-youth ratio on the unit
Work as a role model for newer, less experienced staff
Maintain records
Participate in the training of residential staff
Seek out training opportunities for all staff relevant to the work on the unit
Participate in residential staff meetings
Understand and apply the general framework and expected outcomes of the various treatment models used with the youth,
Maintain safety and an environment that supports youth to be safe and make progress on the unit
Make the unit a family-friendly place, where family members feel welcome and activities are planned that include family members. Teach, and then ensure, that staff persons treat family members with respect and listen to their concerns, document them, and pass them on to the appropriate clinician and administrator.
Teach and ensure all staff members treat all youth, family members, collaterals, neighbors, and the general public with respect and dignity at all times. Everyone should be spoken to in a calm, rational voice, without rancor.
Maintain the physical order of the building and therapeutic environment of the units
Develop and maintain schedules within the assigned campus residential unit
Help evaluate youth referred to the Agency for residential care
Participate in the appropriate on call system
Participate in the financial responsibilities of the residential unit following established guidelines
Participate in and organize program and agency wide special events and services
Oversee and transport clients for medical, mental health, and other essential needs
Work with clinical staff to coordinate the implementation of treatment plans in the milieu
Assist in crisis intervention

Requirements and Education:

Requires an Associate’s degree plus three years of experience, Bachelor’s degree preferred, OR HS plus at least five years of experience required.
Related experience with vulnerable populations and older adolescent population is required.
Must have supervisory experience or demonstrated ability to manage a residential unit.
Required to maintain TCI certification.
A valid driver’s license and meet agency insurability standards for using agency vehicles and transporting youth.
Must pass physical.

Description

The Residential Supervisor in charge will ensure the security of campus and community residential locations, including working with staff, maintaining communication with resident’s family and guardians, and overseeing resident transportation needs. You will report to the Online/Oncall supervisor and you will work on-site.

Responsibilities:

Oversee and ensure implementation of all applicable emergency systems, agency policies, and program procedures.
Respond to crises within assigned Residential Program/locations. Ensure response follows agency policy and protocol appropriate to the situation, and ensure that the individual clients behavior management plan(s) are followed. Ensure any physical intervention is conducted following TCI standards. Ensure completion of all forms and appropriate documentation of every restraint.
Provide support to teams when asked for behavioral interventions and events. Will direct the team in absence of residential supervisor and will be a source of training , supporting and modeling for other staff.
Ensure the security of campus and community locations, responding to any security concerns. Conduct random checks of assigned locations to ensure safety of residents.
Be the primary person in charge of calling the police for any resident considered missing, completing or ensuring completion of the Missing Person Report form and canceling Missing Person Reports upon a residents return.
Ensure contacts have been made with the residents family and guardian for all significant incidents.
Maintain regular entries in the Online/On call log regarding all significant events that occur, and provide the leadership with specific additional information as. Ensure completion of documentation for all significant incidents.
Ensure significant incidents are called into the Justice Center as applicable.
Serve as the central person in charge of off campus trips. Approve and log all off-campus trips and assure such trips have proper staff coverage.
Oversee and transport clients for medical, mental health, and other essential needs.
Check and assure that all visitors have prior approval to be on the grounds.
Be available to hear and document any neighbor concerns.

Requires an associate's degree;bachelor's degree and equivalent experience preferred.
3 years of experience, or equivalent education and experience.

Job Summary

The Department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Experimental Quantum Optics, Quantum Entanglement & Quantum Information.

Possible research areas include, but are not limited to, single-photon qubit manipulations, quantum interconnects, entangled-photon light-matter interactions, quantum information transmission, and quantum entanglement and decoherence.

This hire would be part of a bold effort at RPI to strengthen and extend our current faculty cluster in Quantum Information, aligned with the broader research initiatives in the RPI Forward 10-year Strategic Plan. The candidate would also interact with our current Physics faculty on non-linear and quantum optics and photon entanglement, as well as with researchers from Material Science and Electrical Engineering. The position also represents a response to federal priorities expressed in the National Quantum Initiative Act.

The successful candidate will establish and maintain an externally-funded research program, participate in high-impact collaborative research in this field, and contribute to the high-quality teaching program in the Department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy

This position is part of a faculty cluster hire funded by support from the Simons Foundation designed to stimulate research in the basic sciences across New York State.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. degree or an equivalent foreign qualification in Physics or a closely related field. Postdoctoral experience is highly preferred. Applicants for the Assistant Professor position should demonstrate potential for future excellence in research, scholarship, and teaching. The candidate is expected to work in an interdisciplinary and collaborative research environment.

Job Summary

The Department of Biological Sciences at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Cellular Neuroscience. We seek a passionate and innovative individual in the field of neuroscience, with a particular focus on quantitative and cell/organismal biology, whose research focuses on the use of model systems to understand the fundamental biology of the nervous system, particularly the role of plasticity in the aging brain and the fundamental biology of neurogenerative disease. This position is part of a faculty cluster hire funded by support from the Simons Foundation designed to stimulate research in the basic sciences across New York State.

Minimum Qualifications

All candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree, or foreign degree equivalent in biology and/or neuroscience or a closely related field. Postdoctoral experience is required. Candidates for the rank of Assistant Professor must exhibit promise of future distinction in research, scholarship, and teaching. Specifically, candidates who have the demonstrated potential to establish a strong externally funded research program, primarily in cellular or organismal neuroscience are desired.

All exceptional candidates will be considered, and we especially encourage applications from individuals who will bring both experimental and computational research approaches and skill sets to address fundamental problems in neuroscience. A candidate who complements existing strengths at Rensselaer and who can leverage existing platforms such as the Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies, the Center for Modeling, Simulation, and Imaging in Medicine, or the Rensselaer Future of Computing Institute (FOCI) is desired.

We seek candidates who are experienced in the use of sophisticated experimental and quantitative techniques applied towards the study of cellular neuroscience using any relevant model system, with the goal of understanding the fundamental biology of the nervous system, and/or role of plasticity in both healthy and aging brains, and to contribute to the teaching mission of the department.

Expected hiring range: $108,000 - $118,000

Responsibilities:

Manage a caseload of clients aged birth to 65, providing comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and individual and family therapy services to those assigned to caseload.
Create initial treatment plans, subsequent treatment plan reviews, progress notes for each scheduled appointment, and other documentation/assessments as indicated.
Collaborate with on-site prescriber, other medical and mental health providers, schools and any other community supports for client care.
Attend Behavioral Health Center staff meeting twice a month.
Attend and participate in Supervision; weekly, bi-weekly or monthly based on licensure level or individual needs.
Provide referrals and linkages to community supports, resources, and services.

Requirements and Education:

Master's degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counselor.
Experience in human services, case management, line staff at a residential program, or any other related direct care within human services, both pre and post master degree, will be considered.
License and/or Limited Permit eligible, have a limited permit in discipline or Fully Licensed (LMHC/LCSW/LCSW-R), preferred.
Good standing with the NYS Office of the Professions.

Compensation:
