Rental/Repair Manager

Position Summary : Manages the overall functions of the Rochester Repair and Maintenance department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Observes all safety procedures, rules and regulations, and instruction in performance of job duties.
  • Manages the repair and maintenance departments and ensures all locations have an effective preventive maintenance schedule and program.
  • Evaluates priorities for rental and repair work in Buffalo and Rochester for maximum capacity utilization and best customer service; communicates the work status of repairs to customers.
  • Oversees invoicing of rentals and repairs and provides price quotes to customers.
  • Seeks reference documents and researches assembly documents for replacement parts and troubleshooting information.
  • Evaluates if product and/or attachments are appropriate for customer application; contacts customer representative for clarification and acceptance.
  • Ensures that Repair and Maintenance Associates perform the following tasks effectively and in a timely manner:
  • Trouble shooting of internal equipment for repairs, replacement or upgrading
  • Appropriate testing is designated to be performed
  • All items have product identification recorded with the proper disposition and assigned location
  • All repaired equipment complies with customer quality requirements as defined on work orders
  • Evaluation of units for proper operational use
  • Ensures the effective tracking application is utilized for processing the receipt of equipment, tools and rental returns.
  • Provides internal consultation and guidance for breakdowns and repairs, service calls and troubleshooting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Background in production machinery and mechanical equipment assembly including electrical, welding and lubrication is required.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance, tool repair, machinery and utilities is required.
  • Ability to operate machinery and powered materials handling equipment is required.
  • Strong knowledge of computer based equipment manuals and parts replacement sources is required.

Level of Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalency is required.
  • Vocational and technical school or apprentice certification is preferred or 3 to 5 years’ experience in equipment usage along with a repair background.
  • Minimum of one year experience with Hanes rigging, crane and construction equipment along with Hanes product and applications knowledge is required.
  • Prior experience working in an ISO certified manufacturing environment along with facilities maintenance experience is highly desired.

  • Occasional : carrying and lifting 20 to 50 lbs. and lifting 50 to 100 lbs. with assistance, reaching above the shoulder, bending and stooping,
  • Frequent: lifting and carrying 10 to 20 lbs., walking, using hands for pushing and pulling, fine finger manipulation
