JOB PURPOSE:
Design, optimize, implement, and maintain the network security systems to protect all aspects of Midco’s network.
KEY FUNCTIONS:
- Manage the design, install, and maintenance of Midco network security platforms in all aspects. This includes but is not limited to managing the physical and virtual Next Generation firewalls, centralized firewall management, LAN segmentation, DDOS, cloud security, intrusion detection, virtual private networks, SSL Decryption, and Endpoint Detection Response (EDR).
- Plan, engineer, and monitor the security arrangements for the protection of the network systems.
- Continuously ensure security policies and processes are performing as intended.
- Regular testing and checking systems for weaknesses in software and hardware managed by the network security team.
- Manage tickets and provide support escalation for the Network Security Technicians.
- Implement the latest technologies, security standards, and processes that improve the overall security of systems throughout Midco’s footprint.
- Investigate intrusion and security incidents, collecting incident responses, and carrying out forensic investigations to assist the incident responses.
- Participate in the development of viable and cost-effective security solutions.
- Implement new network designs based on the best and latest security practices.
- Communicate and maintain up-to-date, accurate documentation for passwords, diagrams, security, etc.
- Possess an in-depth knowledge of networking and its components (routers, switches, network protocols, and dynamic routing).
- Engage vendors to assist in security design, installation, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure viable disaster recovery and back up plans are in place for security systems.
- Communicate effectively and professionally in all forms of communication with internal and external customers.

- Adhere to Midco’s privacy guidelines to ensure each customer’s privacy.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in related industry and/or equivalent job experience.
- Six or more years network and security experience required.
- Thorough knowledge and multi-branched background in information technology, network, engineering, and information security.
- CCNA, Palo Alto Certifications, CompTIA Security+, or related security experience required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
- Employees may be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week and other than normal business hours, such as holidays, evenings and weekends as business demands.

Apex Structural Design is a consulting engineering firm specializing in the structural design of buildings and building components that has been in business since 1997. Apex engineers also provide forensic engineering services related to buildings, building components and construction. Apex clients include architects, commercial contractors, residential contractors, owners, insurance companies and law firms. Forensic engineering services include site investigation of storm damaged buildings, building components, builidng collapses and construction issues. The engineer will work in our centrally located office in Sioux Falls, SD with our staff of three other engineers and office manager. The engineer must be a Registered Professional Engineer in South Dakota with a minimum of (4) years experience completing the structural design of buildings and building components. The engineer must be proficient in the use of REVIT and have experience with RAM, RISA, ENERCALC and BlueBeam. Site observation of storm damaged buildings or building components and construction sites will also be included with the work description. Work related travel is typically limited to same day travel so you are home every night. The applicant must have a valid drivers license and dependable vehicle for travel to work sites. The site work will require climbing ladders to access roofs, attics or elevated platforms for inspection purposes. The position is a 40 hour per week commitment. Monday - Thursday (9) hours per day and (4) hours on friday. This is a salaried position. Salary will be based on experience, $80k - $120k per year plus benefits. Benefits include 401k plan, paid holidays, paid vacation, paid medical insurance, paid disabilty insurance and year-end bonus. JOB PURPOSE:
The Sr. Technical Facility Design Engineer is a critical role for building and maintaining Midco’s +200 technical facilities. This position will work closely with the technical facilities and key stakeholders to build out, maintain and operationally improve the facility infrastructure, and helps keep Midco as a leading internet service provider in the Midwest.
KEY FUNCTIONS:
- Creation, design, and management of technical facility white space which includes rack layout, hot/cold containment, network infrastructure, branch circuit distribution, power requirements, cable pathway, and projected build phases.
- Creation, design, and management of technical facility gray space which includes cooling systems, generators, transformers, switchgear, and uninterruptable power supplies, and projected build phases.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver project design criteria and develop Basis of Design and ensure these requirements are met.
- Participate in development of technical facility requirements documentation.
- Research new designs, materials, and construction methods for technical facility building, electrical, and mechanical equipment and related components.
- Create, develop, and maintain technical facility infrastructure site documentation, including floor plans, and rack elevations.
- Review and evaluate RFI, RFP, and RFQ submittals.
- Assist in creating technical facility infrastructure standards.
- Travel to new and existing technical facilities for engineering analyses.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and meet critical deadlines for project schedules.
- Participate in project coordination meetings, and clearly communicate any necessary or recommended updates to project scheduling.
- Ability to effectively troubleshoot site mechanical and electrical systems remotely.
- Ability to respond remotely to unplanned events without immediate supervision.
- Communicate clearly and regularly with the Technical Facilities Manager regarding any potential or outstanding problems or issues.

- Knowledge of Data Center or Critical environment electrical and mechanical Infrastructure preferred.
- Experience in Data Center Infrastructure / Building Management Software systems required.
- Experience in development of MOPs/SOPs for carrying out systems operations required.
- Ability to create, read, and comprehend blueprints and building documentation required.
- High level of understanding all aspects of building construction – specializing in electrical construction required.
- Applicable knowledge of NEC, OSHA, NFPA and other safety codes required.
