Position Summary The Charge RN is responsible to maintain the nursing philosophy, objectives, and standards of quality nursing care; and ensure compliance with standards, codes, rules and regulations, Position Summary
The RN Unit Manager is responsible for the operations and programs of the skilled care unit. Directs, coordinates and supervises all nursing staff. Responsible for monitoring appropriate job performance, counseling staff, completing & reviewing evaluations
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*CF indicates Critical Function)
- Coordinates the day-to-day nursing care services of the nursing unit in accordance with policy and procedures of the facility (*CF)
- Assists DON with supervision of unit nursing personnel to assure timely and proper delivery of nursing care plan/ services at all times, including, but not limited to medication administration, treatment, nursing rehabilitation programs, and personal care services (*CF)
- Delegates to each staff nurse the responsibility, authority, and accountability necessary to perform assigned duties.
- Performs staff evaluations, initiates disciplinary action when necessary and participates in counseling and termination of staff. Consults with Human Resources for compliance (*CF)
- Primary development and update of nursing care plans. (*CF)
- Develops and maintains good working rapport with department personnel and other departments within the facility, physicians, and consultants
- Develops and maintains liaison with residents, families, and/or representatives to adequately plan for resident needs, advise responsible party of change of condition
- Conducts regular unit rounds to assure proper delivery of care, a safe environment, and the protection and promotion of resident rights (*CF)
- Assist and directs admissions and ongoing resident assessment of condition and needs in order to develop and coordinate the plan of care
- Participates in resident interdisciplinary care planning activities (*CF)
- Consults with physician regarding the planning and provision of the resident’s program of care, advise the physician of any changes in condition, and assures that the physician’s orders are carries out as written (*CF)
