Hudson Valley Credit Union is currently recruiting for the position of BSA KYC Specialist I. Primary function: Responsible for the daily monitoring and investigating of high risk account activity, including but not limited to high risk business accounts, Money Services Businesses, and Cannabis Banking Businesses. Preparing, approving and filing SAR reports with the appropriate agencies in accordance with the mandated due date. Serves as a resource for all Credit Union employees related to Know Your Customer (KYC) and other BSA related policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Primarily responsible for monitoring high risk member accounts, performing ninety day reviews on previous SARs submitted for high risk customers, and maintaining all documentation. Provides support to branch staff in relation to required site visits in accordance with FFIEC guidance.
- Investigates Customer Due diligence (CDD) alerts or notifications produced out of the BSA tracking software or data processing systems, through branch/department staff processes and/or observation, law enforcement notification, or through the 314(a) and 314(b) processes.
- Makes recommendations to management regarding high risk activity, which may include actions such as freezing accounts or closing the membership.
- Updates risk model scoring for individual members/businesses based on overall review, as dictated by procedure.
- Acts as a BSA Specialist when necessary, providing support to monthly BSA alert reviews.
- Contacts all levels of law enforcement on matters related to fraudulent, illegal or improper activities in association with BSA/AML reporting. This includes, the exchange of information, obtaining of warrants and appearance in court as a representative of the Credit Union
- Adhere to all Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements. Participate in all required and recommended training and development including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act training (BSA) and demonstrate attained knowledge. Participate on Credit Union teams, projects and strategic initiatives when the opportunity arises. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
- Embrace and apply HVCU’s guiding principles to all activities and responsibilities. Qualifications
- High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED) certificate, or state authorized high school equivalent certificate required.
- Associate’s Degree or at least 2 years equivalent experience for each undergraduate year not completed; undergraduate degree cannot substitute for minimum number of years of experience preferred.

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Specialist to join our growing team! The chosen candidate will be responsible for the coordination of recruitment, providing direction and support to the management team throughout the process. He or she will complete the onboarding process, conduct new employee orientation, develop job descriptions, and maintain relationships with external employment sources. Additionally, the HR Specialist role includes benefits administration, employee file maintenance, HR communications, and policy interpretation as it relates to employees and the business objectives. The HR Specialist will also aid in the development and implementation of comprehensive skills assessment programs, utilizing data to identify specific training needs. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are a must in this role, as well as strong organizational and time-management skills. PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred but not required.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Directing selection and recruitment of new employees; serves as HR business partner to managers, providing direction/support during the process; complete on-boarding process, including new employee orientation; develop relationships with external employment sources; complete internal transfer, promotion and termination processes as necessary.
- Maintain job descriptions; review job descriptions before the grading process and assist managers with job grading procedures.
- Support the development and execution of strategies to evaluate employee skills, identify gaps, and facilitate targeted training and development initiatives.
- Promoting employee relations by assisting all offices with employee concerns and policy issues. Providing input and guidance on the interpretation of policies as they relate to employees, assuring compliance with government regulations, as well as with credit union policies and objectives. This also includes complaint investigations, policy interpretation, conflict resolution, legal compliance, disciplinary action, and performance management support.
- Advising, counseling, and assisting employees on benefits related issues enabling proper and complete utilization of existing and new benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, 401k plan, life insurance, Employee Assistance Program, and COBRA. Monitoring current developments in employee benefit and personnel practices and propose/implement changes as appropriate.
- In conjunction with current business plan, completing projects as assigned and performing other duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements include:
- Assuring member service is top priority, which includes treating members and other employees professionally with courtesy and respect and upholding MHV Service Standards.
- Recruits and screens qualified candidates for all positions in a timely fashion.
- Monitoring current developments in employee benefit programs and proposes/implements changes as appropriate within established budget.
- Maintaining a good working knowledge of all salary and benefit regulations, both federal and state, pertaining to position; ensures that all human resource programs and actions are in compliance with organizational policies and relevant regulations. Keeping management informed regarding key operating issues affecting the department.
- Staying abreast of current trends affecting the financial services industry; has an overall knowledge of the credit union, its policies and procedures. Continually expanding knowledge and develop skills.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
- A bachelor's degree, or achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
- Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
- Strong time management; ability to manage multiple workloads with successful results; ability to work independently; organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, listening skills, problem analysis and problem resolution; above average interpersonal skills; computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office). Working knowledge of employment and interviewing practices, compensation and benefits, federal regulations, such as FLSA, EEOC, Affirmative Action, COBRA, etc.
- Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Normal range of vision and hearing abilities required.
- Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
- Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
- Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. - Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
- Work is generally performed within an office environment, primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sedentary, sitting, standing, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use; standard office equipment available.
