Job Summary | The Department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Experimental Quantum Optics, Quantum Entanglement & Quantum Information. Possible research areas include, but are not limited to, single-photon qubit manipulations, quantum interconnects, entangled-photon light-matter interactions, quantum information transmission, and quantum entanglement and decoherence. This hire would be part of a bold effort at RPI to strengthen and extend our current faculty cluster in Quantum Information, aligned with the broader research initiatives in the RPI Forward 10-year Strategic Plan. The candidate would also interact with our current Physics faculty on non-linear and quantum optics and photon entanglement, as well as with researchers from Material Science and Electrical Engineering. The position also represents a response to federal priorities expressed in the National Quantum Initiative Act. The successful candidate will establish and maintain an externally-funded research program, participate in high-impact collaborative research in this field, and contribute to the high-quality teaching program in the Department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy This position is part of a faculty cluster hire funded by support from the Simons Foundation designed to stimulate research in the basic sciences across New York State. | |
Minimum Qualifications | Candidates must possess a Ph.D. degree or an equivalent foreign qualification in Physics or a closely related field. Postdoctoral experience is highly preferred. Minimum Qualifications | All candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree, or foreign degree equivalent in biology and/or neuroscience or a closely related field. Postdoctoral experience is required. Specifically, candidates who have the demonstrated potential to establish a strong externally funded research program, primarily in cellular or organismal neuroscience are desired. Job Summary | The Assistant Director, Men’s Hockey Operations (Operations Coordinator) is responsible for assisting with the coordination and support of all aspects of the RPI men’s ice hockey program to ensure efficient, compliant, and successful operations. Job Summary | The Administrative Specialist works closely with the Department Head and Administrative Coordinator to provide administrative and operational support to faculty, staff and students. The Administrative Specialist plans and organizes special events, manages the Mechanical, Aerospace, and Nuclear Engineering (MANE) website and social media, provides support for the Invent@Rensselaer and other special programs, assists the department head with correspondence with donors and maintaining records, and provides support for the graduate programs. Job Summary | The Student Services Coordinator serves in the Office of Undergraduate Student Services, located in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Nuclear Engineering. The Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of activities relating to the recruitment of new undergraduate students to the department, the retention and satisfaction of current students, and support of accreditation assessment activities. Job Summary | The Maintenance Mechanic/Plumber performs a wide range of repair and maintenance duties primarily related to plumbing equipment and systems. Performs maintenance and repair work on but not limited to utility infrastructure, building systems, steam heating systems, laboratories, exhaust fans, pumps, and air compressors.
