The School of Nursing is seeking part-time adjunct clinical instructors for our clinical practicum offerings at contracted hospitals in the Nashville, TN area beginning August 2022.
Part-time clinical instructors report to the Associate Dean and communicate with the instructional faculty overseeing the course/content area they are teaching. Excelsior University provides fully developed courses with materials and activities to allow the faculty to focus on the students. They should expect to provide prompt response to student needs, offer timely formative feedback on student work, and demonstrate their clinical expertise through selecting, supervising, and evaluating students’ clinical experiences. In addition, Excelsior looks for our adjunct part-time nursing clinical faculty to demonstrate a commitment to student success by supporting college engagement and retention initiatives, reaching out to struggling students and collaborating with instructional faculty and support staff to ensure students have access to all available resources that impact success.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Successful completion of College-sponsored training program
- Fulfillment of all requirements and adherence to all College policies identified in the Excelsior College Faculty Handbook.
- Ability to work 2 non-consecutive weekends at the clinical site during an 8-week course term. The weekend consists of
- Friday evening 3 hours (5-8 pm) and 12-hour days (6:15 am-6:30 pm Saturday and Sunday).
- Plan and coordinate patient assignments for each student in the clinical group, consistent with the course and clinical objectives.
- Demonstrate competency with nursing skills and associated technology (EHR, automated medication dispensing system, smart intravenous pumps, etc.)
- Demonstrate familiarity with assigned clinical unit(s), facility policies and procedures; complete all facility required training.
- Participate in pre-clinical briefs and post-clinical debriefs with students within Canvas LMS
- Exhibit content and skill-based expertise when engaging with students; provide
relevant evidence based professional examples pertinent to the topic - Provide students with individualized feedback summarizing strengths and areas in need of improvement. Substantiate feedback with examples from student work.
- Complete individual clinical evaluation rubric in Canvas for each student by the end of the term.
Qualifications:
- A master’s degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution
- Active, unencumbered TN RN license.
- Minimum of 5 years of RN experience in varied clinical areas, caring for patients across the lifespan.
- Current clinical experience within an acute care hospital setting.
- Experience supervising nursing students and/or new graduate RNs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to present information clearly, concisely, and accurately; friendly, persuasive speaking and writing style.
- Experience in the implementation of curriculum in pre-licensure nursing degree programs.
- Experience with various modes of educational technology, including video conferencing software.

Instructional faculty report to the Department Chair overseeing the course/content area they are teaching. This is a remote online part-time faculty position based within the continental United States.
Excelsior University provides fully developed courses with materials and activities to allow the faculty to focus on the students. Part-time faculty should expect to provide prompt and substantive responses to student needs, hold virtual office hours, assist in proctoring if applicable, offer timely formative feedback on student work, and demonstrate their subject matter expertise through constructive involvement with student discussions and learning activities. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implementing courses as designed by the University.
- Bring individual knowledge and expertise on the subject matter in the engagement of students.
- Engage regularly and substantively with students via email, announcements, and online discussion boards.
- Provide timely, high-quality feedback on student work.
- Hold regular virtual office hours, weekly.
- Participate in ATI proctoring if applicable.
- Keep the department chair apprised of any student or course issues.
- Follow University policies.
- Complete University-required training and attending required pre-term meetings.
- Respond to all messages from students and the University within 48 hours.
- Utilize provided rubrics to grade all assignments timely and provide narrative feedback that summarizes the strengths and areas in need of improvement.
- Cultivate a caring environment that supports open dialogue, collaboration, and opportunities for scholarly growth.
- Enforce all University policies listed in the Faculty Handbook.
- Submit final grades timely, within 3 days after the end of the term.

Rate of Pay:
- A flat rate of $1000 per credit for a section of at least 10 undergraduate students or 8 graduate students. Courses that fall under these student headcounts are considered low enrolled courses.
- Low enrolled courses will be paid on a directed study rate ($250/student for undergraduate courses and $300/student for graduate courses) based on the number of students enrolled in the course section at the close of late registration.

The Full-Time Faculty member is a faculty position with exempt status. Our new colleague will teach two courses each year (winter and spring trimesters; early January through mid-June 2026), which are components of our year-longclinical sequence: Clinical Psychology 2: Interventions (with a lab), and Clinical Psychology 3: Internship. Clinical Psychology 2:Interventions covers theories of psychotherapy and communication, and with an experiential labsection. In Clinical Psychology 3: Internship, advanced students spend ten hours perweek at supervised internship sites in the community, and meet one class sectionper week for group supervision.
Many of our students are interested in pursuing careers in the helping professions, andcontinue on to masters, doctoral, or pre-med programs. Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is $37,600. The wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Job Summary | The Associate Vice Provost (AVP) is a key member of the Student Experience leadership team and plays a vital role in setting the strategic direction for Student Health and Wellness. The AVP proactively addresses opportunities and challenges, manages resources, formulates policies, and builds essential relationships with academic and administrative colleagues. The AVP will work closely with a range of stakeholders to cultivate an environment that prioritizes student well-being and will have direct oversight of the Student Health Center, Student Counseling and Psychological Services, and Case Management, fostering programs and services that contribute to a holistic and healthy campus culture. The AVP oversees the Student Health Insurance Plan and partners with Athletics on supervision of athletic trainers. |
