Position Purpose:Provides transportation of Union College students, staff and community members to and from College approved locations following safety protocols
Responsibilities:
Duties of the driver include a pre-trip inspection of the equipment to be used during the designated route
Provide the dispatcher with trip information prior to the start of each trip
Maintain the scheduled times and locations as posted for the Trolley Service
Report all concerns of vehicle safety, including concerns of safety for the community being served, i.e. road hazards, sick or intoxicated students to the immediate supervisor from Campus Safety
Report any incidents whether they appear minor or major to the driver
Qualifications:
Drivers must possess and maintain a valid New State Commercial Driver's License, minimum class "B" with "P" endorsement.
2+ years of transportation driving experience
Strong communications skills for working with a diverse group of college Faculty, Staff and Students.
Drivers are subject to commercial driver’s license (CDL) standards.
All drivers are subject to random drug and alcohol testing as mandated by citations “49 CFR 382” & “49 CFR 40”
Physical requirements: Must be able to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle. Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 25 pounds as needed. Ability to enter and exit the vehicle frequently and assist passengers as necessary.
Compensation:
The expected rate for this position is $19.00 per hour. We are seeking a candidate whose research area explores the interaction between biological systems and the environment as it relates to epidemiology and/or public health. Potential subjects of study include, but are not limited to: host-vector biology, microbiomes, evolution and transmission of infectious agents, genetic epidemiology, and environmental influences on pathogenesis. Candidates using combinations of field-based, wet-lab, genomics, and/or computational approaches are highly preferred. All candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in a biology or in a related field and preference will be given to those with at least one year of postdoctoral experience in research or teaching. Successful candidates will demonstrate potential to develop an independent research program, as evidenced by scholarship and productivity during graduate and postdoctoral activities, and will exhibit an interest in undergraduate teaching.

The Department of Biological Sciences at Union College is committed to teaching and mentoring students in the classroom and in our active research laboratories. We contribute to numerous interdisciplinary programs including Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Environmental Science and Policy, Environmental Engineering, and Nanoscience (https://www.union.edu/interdisciplinary-studies). Housed in the newly-constructed Integrated Science and Engineering Complex, the Department is well equipped with NSF-funded instrumentation such as a microCT, a confocal microscope, a 3-D multi camera motion analysis system, Illumina DNA sequencer, scanning electron microscope, greenhouse space, growth chambers, and substantial microscopy, tissue culture and animal care facilities. We also have access to a continuous flow isotope mass spectrometer, elemental analyzer, and an ICPMS in Union College’s Stable Isotope and Geochemistry Laboratory. The College is situated in close proximity to a variety of terrestrial and aquatic habitats including the Adirondack and Catskill Mountains, the Mohawk River as well as numerous lakes, urban and suburban areas that are amenable to field study.

Union College (Schenectady, NY) invites applications for a 1-year visiting position in French and Francophone Studies in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, beginning September 2026. Ph.D. must be in hand or near completion by September 1, 2026. We seek a colleague with demonstrated excellence at all levels of language instruction (native or near-native fluency in French is required) and potential to teach upper-level Courses in French and/or translation courses that contribute to the College’s interdisciplinary programs (which include Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies, Film Studies, Africana Studies, Latin American and Caribbean Studies). We are interested in teaching that makes use of linguistic and cultural materials related to multiple aspects of the French and Francophone worlds, and we also invite candidacies related to digital, public, and experimental humanities. A Ph.D in chemistry or a closely related field is required; ABD applicants will be considered if there is a clear indication that all degree requirements will be complete before the start of employment. Teaching responsibilities will be primarily in introductory chemistry courses and labs, with additional teaching responsibilities depending on the successful candidate's area(s) of expertise and departmental need. About the Department of Chemistry:
The Department of Chemistry comprises thirteen permanent faculty members with support from an administrative assistant and a laboratory specialist. One faculty member also serves as the Department’s dedicated instrumentation specialist. Annually, about 20 students graduate with a degree in chemistry or biochemistry, and about 40% of the students on campus take introductory chemistry courses during their time at Union. Our department has a strong collegial culture. We frequently collaborate to develop innovative approaches to undergraduate education in both teaching and scholarship. Qualifications:
Physical requirements: Ability to lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.), and stand, bend and stoop for extended periods of time.

The Spanish and Hispanic Studies Department is seeking a Lecturer who specializes in Community-Based Pedagogies, preferably with expertise in U.S. Latino, Caribbean, Central American, or Mexican cultures. Candidates must hold a PhD in Spanish, Hispanic Studies, Latin American Studies, Latino Studies, or a related field. Candidates with PhD in hand will be prioritized. Candidates who will defend their dissertation by August 2026 will be considered. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish required. English language proficiency must be sufficient to communicate effectively with campus and community partners.
Lecturer positions are renewable with a contract period of three years. Opportunities for promotion to Senior Lecturer (with renewable five-year contracts) occur after six years. Teaching load is six courses per year along with co-curricular responsibilities and the expectation of student advising, College service, and departmental service including curricular development, student engagement, placement advising, and recruitment activities.
Strong Spanish language teaching skills and experience at all levels required. We seek candidates who also have ample experience teaching and designing courses with community-based components and/or collaborating with community partners. Ability to contribute courses to 250-299, 300, and 400 levels that complement our current offerings is a plus. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise to develop courses in Spanish and English on U.S. Latino, Caribbean, Central American, or Mexican cultures. Candidates with experience teaching Heritage learners preferred.
Co-curricular responsibilities will focus on liaising with Community Engagement and Outreach, the Career Center, other academic departments, and local organizations and businesses to build and coordinate a consistent program of offerings and real-world, career-adjacent opportunities that connect students and the department’s curriculum to local Spanish-speaking communities. We will look for evidence of candidates' interest in and ability to engage students in learning outside the classroom, including but not limited to diverse approaches to experiential or applied learning opportunities. Candidates with experience that will prepare them to design and coordinate community engagement opportunities for the department will be prioritized.

Qualifications:

The Program in Religious Studies at Union College seeks to make a tenure-track appointment at the level of Assistant Professor in the area of Religion and Science. The appointee is expected to offer courses in religious studies, including in various aspects of religion and science, for the Religious Studies program, and also selected courses in philosophy for the Philosophy Department. It is also expected that the appointee’s teaching will support the General Education program (https://www.union.edu/general-education). There is an expectation that the appointee would support the work of the Templeton Institute at Union (https://www.union.edu/templeton) and take advantage of research and outreach opportunities afforded them there.
Applicants should have strong grounding in science and in religious studies, as well as hold a PhD in religious studies, philosophy, history, STEM, or other relevant field that interconnects science and the academic study of religion. Candidates who are ABD and will complete their degree by September, 2026 are welcome to apply. Demonstrated experience in teaching across science, philosophy and religion is highly valued, as is evidence of building institutional connections between religious studies and science. The Religious Studies program is particularly interested in candidates who work in the area of AI and spirituality. Position Title: Mailroom Supervisor

Position Purpose: The Mailroom Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operation of the Union College mail facility to ensure timely distribution of mail to the campus community, most notably students and the College’s academic units, in addition to providing a limited suite of mail services to students, faculty and staff.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Supervision: Oversee an employee team that includes student workers.
Operation of Equipment: Assist with the College’s in house copying operations on a limited basis, as necessary to meet the demands of students, faculty and staff.
Customer Service and Communication: The successful candidate will be a highly organized, deadline-oriented, and customer-focused individual capable of handling the logistics associated with a high-volume mail operation. Strong communication skills and prior employee supervision experience are essential.
Qualifications:

The Department of Psychology at Union College, Schenectady, New York, invites applications for a three-year visiting faculty position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor. Area of specialization is less important than teaching and research excellence. Ability to teach, advise, and mentor a diverse population of undergraduates is essential. A PhD in Psychology by the appointment date is required.
Our new colleague will offer 2 courses per trimester (a total of 6 courses per academic year) at a variety of levels, including content courses in their area of expertise. We expect that our new colleague will establish and maintain a dynamic research program that involves our undergraduate students.
