Transportation Analyst

UPS is seeking a Transportation Analyst to prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly Transportation reports. He/She maintains the Transportation Toolkit web page, and manages others within the department. The Transportation Analystreceives reporting requests from stakeholders to fulfill in a timely manner. He/She develops customized reports and alternative solutions, as applicable, to fulfill transportation reports requests. He/She creates ad hoc reports to assist the transportation management staff with report requests. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Corrects reporting discrepancies to ensure results reflect accurate data and manages and validates the accrual consolidation process
  • Reviews transportation services to identify discrepancies in report results and provides transportation network cost management
  • Designs and develops optimization tools, modifies transportation services database objects to reflect operational changes, new reporting requirements, and correct database inefficiencies
  • Interprets transportation service data to identify and resolve transit issues, specific to Amazon, in order to maintain and increase volume
  • Partners closely with Corporate and Region Transportation Managers to develop annual operations and strategy reports

Knowledge and Skills

  • Applies Database Knowledge: Demonstrates basic knowledge of database design principles; identifies users’ requirements and needs with guidance from others; demonstrates a basic understanding of the importance of maintaining and updating databases
  • Detail Orientation: Distinguishes between “big picture” concepts and comments and specialized, smaller specific facts associated with work; notes the specifics of events and experiences; explains, in general, how details impact end goals or outcomes; ensures that work is completed accurately and with the appropriate level of detail
  • Report Generation: Generates reports in appropriate format using basic software; reviews reports to ensure accuracy and completeness; identifies issues with report generation (e.g., missing variables, incorrect data, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Computer Science - Preferred
