Description
As a Residential Youth Counselor, you will provide daily therapeutic care and programming according to agency policy and governing bodies' (DSS, OMH, JCAHO, etc.) requirements for elementary aged children.. You will work on-site on our Albany campus and will report to the Residential Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
Provide for the physical and psychological needs of clients, including physical safety, hygiene, clothing, food, cooking, medical care, and providing a reliable and nurturing environment.
1:1 Residential Counselor
You will follow an individual youth’s 1:1 expectations plan, ICMP, and any safety plans in place.
Engage the youth in activities and conversation that are age appropriate and at the appropriate developmental level.
Document in writing a summary of each shift.
Learn the history and specific issues associated with the youth who requires 1:1; will learn how to safely manage any crisis.
Seek and obtain training in any particular area specific to the youth who requires 1:1care.
Transport 1:1 client for medical, mental health, and other essential needs.
RC1
You will must be able to work within trauma informed framework of program, including identifying and using coping/safety plans, maintaining consistency, providing regular routine, and controlling own response to youth.
Engage and form positive relationship with all youth served.
Complete all mandatory trainings according to programmatic guidelines.
Display basic competency in TCI techniques.
Follow outlined program routines, therapeutic plans of youth, and program rules and protocols.
Work as part of a team including colleague residential counselors, clinicians, on line oncall, supervisors, and other administrative and functional support staff.
Maintain respectful and appropriate communication with internal and external customers,including county workers, medical staff, parents etc.
Complete and maintain documentation to meet programmatic and regulatory standards.
Transport clients for medical, mental health, and other essential needs.
RC2
All of the above plus the following:
You will facilitate groups/coached visitation, understanding and applying curriculum and appropriate practice models, i.e. DBT, SAY, etc.
Take on specific leadership responsibilities for dorm/cottage, including coordinating activities, participating in program-wide committee.
Must have the ability, skill, and knowledge to take a lead role in a team.
Form positive relationships with more challenging youth and families.
RC3
All of the above plus the following:
Display critical thinking and problem solving skills related to residential program needs.
Display good judgment and decision making related to all program routines, therapeutic plans of youth, and program rules and protocols.
Lead, delegate, and plan work for other team members.
Requirements and Education:
HS Diploma/GED required.
Experience working with emotionally disturbed population.
A valid, clean driver's license is required.
Must pass physical.
Must be able to complete TCI training.
RC 1
Experience with emotionally disturbed population is preferred.
RC 2
At least six months of related experience is required with demonstrated competency in Level 1 essential job duties. One year of related experience is desired.
RC 3
At least one year of related experience is required with demonstrated competency in Level 2 essential job responsibilities. Two years or more related experience is desired.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for participating in the design and implementation of behavior support for students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students and adults.
- Work with students who demonstrate serious mental and emotional health issues and also exhibit antisocial and explosive behaviors.
- Intervene to assist classroom staff in managing student behavior and providing support when students require behavioral interventions.
- Provide immediate one on one support to students who display impulsive behaviors, low self-esteem and impaired social skills.
- Participate in and foster the schoolwide PBIS program by modeling positive behaviors and interactions with students, as well as student expectations throughout the school.

- Demonstrate deescalating skills in assisting students who are losing or have lost control and need adult support to regain self-regulation.
- Work collaboratively with various school, clinical staff, and family members to develop and implement FBAs and BIPs, and other support plans for individual students.
- Participate effectively in various team, classroom or other staff meetings using appropriate social skills, problem solving and conflict resolution strategies.
- Supervise students in a variety of student activities including classrooms, arrival and dismissal, cafeteria, hallways, bus loading and unloading, field trips, and other areas where students gather.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality of student information in accordance with agency, state and federal regulations.
- Accurately complete and return all forms, reports, and other required reporting documentation in a timely manner.
- Participate effectively in ongoing professional development required by the Agency. New York State and federal regulators.
- Consult with classroom staff to utilize and implement classroom management techniques to maintain a safe productive learning environment.

The Youth Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive Psychiatric services to adults and youth who are enrolled in our outpatient clinic program and a 28-person caseload of youth enrolled in our Youth ACT program. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive psychiatric services to youth enrolled in Youth ACT and adults and youth enrolled in our BehavioralHealth Clinic as assigned
Provide consultation to staff on diagnostic and treatment questions
Participate in formal and informal training and education to staff
Prescribe medications, monitor, and review of drug regimen for enrolled individuals
Participate in quality assurance activities, consult with the Youth ACT Team in developing and reviewing service plans for all Youth ACT enrolled individuals
Provide clinical expertise, consultation, and technical assistance to the Youth ACT Team/Behavioral Health, cooperate with the County and participate in any quality audit and utilization review
Provide on-site/community based/home visits medication evaluations and reviews for Youth ACT enrolled participants.
Education and/or Experience:
Requires Board Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Must have a minimum of one year experience working with youth and adults diagnosed with mental illness.
Must be fully licensed Nurse Practitionerin the State of New York.
Must be able to work independently

Controller
Pay Status and Classification: Exempt, regular full-time
Supervisor: Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF)
Position Purpose: As the Controller is a key member of the VPAF team, this position requires the chosen individual to be an effective and trusted partner that is able to provide direction and guidance in financial and accounting matters. This successful candidate will provide leadership and coordination of the College’s accounting, tax, and financial operations, and reporting functions in a manner that ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements, promotes effective, efficient work processes, and aligns with the strategic goals of the College. The Controller also establishes effective, collaborative working relationships with members of the College community and external vendors serving as a resource and key liaison within the College community.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Financial Reporting and Accounting: Coordinates and manages the monthly, quarterly and year end closing processes, partnering with the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis as appropriate and necessary. Manages all general ledger activity including maintenance of chart of accounts, data accuracy and timely reconciliation of accounts. Responsible for accounting posting rules and accounting management using the College’s Workday platform. Coordinates and manages the Controller team, working with campus stakeholders in the production of financial reports and analyses on topics such as research grants, endowment funding, and other internally-managed funds.
Financial Compliance: Coordinates the external audits of the college including financial statement, single and 403(b) audits. Works with stakeholders to prepare 990 and 990-T; review of annual Form 5500 filing and other regulatory and external reporting as may be required. Manages debt compliance and reporting for the College. Manages compliance with federal, state, and private granting agencies in partnership with various College departments including management of all grant related accounting and reporting.
Treasury Management, Endowment Analysis, Risk Management: Works with VPAF as necessary on effective investment and deployment of available cash balances. Performs necessary Investment and Endowment analysis for efficient management and effective spending. Manages the insurance portfolio for the College including ongoing assessment of operational risk, maintenance of adequate liability and property coverage, and coordination of annual renewals.
Finance Team Supervision and Development: Hires, supervises, and coaches financial services team members. Directs the goals and priorities of two Assistant Controllers, the Bursar’s Office and the Payroll Office. Sets the direction and operating standards for delivering financial services to Union departments. Seeks out, applies, and shares knowledge of higher education accounting and financial services trends and innovations through research, participating in peer networks and professional associations, and continuing education.
Administration: Serves on college committees as assigned. Works closely with the Vice President for Administration and Finance on projects and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 10+ years of progressively increasing responsibility, preferably in not for profit/higher education accounting and/or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or work experience.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification required.

Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) of Mechanical Engineering

Union College invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) of Mechanical Engineering. The starting date for the position can begin as early as 1 January 2025 but will begin no later than 1 September 2025. Position Description
This position is broadly in solid mechanics with a focus in the areas of advanced manufacturing and/or applied robotics in manufacturing. Other emerging areas of solid mechanics may be considered. A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field) is required, but applicants close to finishing their Ph.D. will also be considered. We strongly encourage applications from members of groups traditionally underrepresented in the field. The successful candidate would teach and develop content for a range of undergraduate courses and laboratories in the areas of solid mechanics, mechanical design, mechanisms and machines, controls and manufacturing. Qualifications:
- High school diploma, two-year technical trade school, or apprenticeship program, and/or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or work experience.
- Five years as a Journeyman Electrician, experience in residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
- Valid Commercial Electrician’s License (Preferred in Schenectady, Albany, or Troy).
