Employment and Training Assistant

The Jefferson County Department of Employment and Training is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Employment and Training Assistant. Responsibilities include; information gathering, conducting initial interviews with, and verifying eligibility of participants, counseling, job development, and monitoring of sub-grantees. Civil Service exam required for permanent appointment.

Salary Range: $21.82 - $26.79 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Either:

A)  Completion of a minimum of 60 semester credit hours in a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university; or

B)  Two years of experience in job development, personnel counseling, or placement in an Employment and Training, community action, or similar agency dealing with the employment and training of economically disadvantaged, minority, handicapped, or low income persons; or

C)  An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b) above.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:  Appointees will be required to possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate their ability to meet the transportation needs of the job.

Building Maintenance Mechanic

Jefferson County Department of Buildings and Grounds has an immediate need for a Building Maintenance Mechanic. This position is 40 hours per week on the day shift. *Jefferson County is an Equal Opportunity Employer*

(B)         Six years of experience assisting in general building construction, maintenance or repair in one or more of the standard trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, etc.; OR

(C)         An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

ASSISTANT OFFSET PRINTING MACHINE OPERATOR- At present, one vacancy exists for the position of Assistant Offset Printing Machine Operator within the Jefferson County Purchasing Department. This position is 35 hours per week on the day shift. The salary for this position is $19.56/hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
(A)Completion of two years (60 semester credit hours) of study in a regionally accredited or New
York State registered college or university; or
(B) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two
years of clerical experience in an office that involved the operation of offset duplicating
machines or copy machines; or
(C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B)
above.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Appointees will be required to possess a valid license to operate a
motor vehicle in New York State and maintain a valid license throughout employment.
